Ubuntu Linux: The Easy Installation Guide
PC World
10 aka Intrepid Ibex is the most popular Linux distribution available for installing on your PC thanks to its steadily improving hardware compatibility and installation software along with a wealth of free applications and utilities that run on any version of Linux. But even though the bad old days of disappointing Linux installations are mostly over putting Ubuntu on your PC can still be tricky if you haven’t done it before. Many PC users have never had to boot their computers from a CD or had to partition a hard disk. And most of us take for granted that the S will include drivers to handle crucial hardware devices such as graphics cards and wireless networking controllers. For would-be Linux adopters these and other system configuration complexities are make-or-break issues.

Very simple please give an answer. I am doing this on Ubuntu but it can apply to any version of Linux using Gnome or KDE. So you want to download an application install it and run it. So my Grandma downloads Frostwire (.

microsoft is evilso it really really broke my heart to have to switch back to windows eight months later. what forced my hand? device support. after trying to access and write data to 4 different cell phones two mp3 players and a camera i just gave up on ubuntu – if i ever did manage (after hours or days of reading and tweaking) to gain access to the device it was always far more limited than was workable and a couple of the phones I was NEVER able to gain access to and the mp3 players could only be accessed as external drives and both would only play some of the albums regardless of switching id3 tag versions about a hundred times – album by album. dual operating systems make little sense to me (and the concept pisses me off) so i just switched back to windows xp. ubuntu is a superior operating system imo but i’m just not willing to live without full simple device support – whether it be the fault of the device manufacturers or ubuntu developers makes little difference to me the end user who finds it impossible to sync pretty much anything with ubuntu.

Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) – The perfect way irritate uses if the WGA servers have a fault. Now for others to compare: Ubuntu Linux – You install either Kubuntu or Ubuntu as a base system and can add or remove components after install. MACSX – At time of install you can select the optional components. (I think you can add and remove components after install (Someone who uses MACS more than I can confirm?)).
