OS X Rocks! Or so I’ve been told…
InfoWorld – Oct 27, 2007
I hear this new version really rocks, with all sorts of “cool” features that the industry has never seen before. I can’t wait!Question of the Week: Which Linux distribution stacks up best against OS X 10. 5? I’m leaning towards Ubuntu, however, the SUSE 10. x builds look quite compelling. Thoughts? The Mighty Mouse always confuses right and left clicks, and it is a chinsy piece of garbage, as is most of Apple’s hardware. Finally, Apple has really out-gayed itself with the stupid interface design of (and name of) Time Machine. I find my OS of choice, Ubuntu 7. 10, to be much more intuitive than OS X in any incarnation. Posted by: Zach at October 28, 2007 03:15 PM You make me smile. Here I thought it was just another Mac fanboy, but really it’s one of them sneaky Microsoft fanboys. Here’s the main difference between Microsoft fanboys and Mac fanboys.

Being a company this big means there is, more often than not, has its fare share of of bureaucracy and red tape. Sometimes the easiest things in life become major accomplishments. So, I figured I was in for a headache trying to use Ubuntu – especially when the official company Linux distribution is Redhat. So it was a big (and welcome) surprise to find not one but two groups within the company putting together distributions of the IBM desktop products for Ubuntu…
The bug report reads: âI run feisty (beta) on a Dell Inspiron 9400 with a Hitachi HTS541616J9SA00 hard drive. After booting, the drive’s power management settings are such that it spins down A LOT. At this rate the drive will be dead after 2. 5 years, and I don’t even use this computer for more than a couple of hours each day.
Making Linux application user interfaces richer with OpenGL

" He then asked the session participants if there is a way to "get better alignment between the different groups that are doing cool stuff in this area. " Several attendees provided recommendations in response to Shuttleworth's question. Ubuntu community manager Jono Bacon suggested that the situation could be improved if the various libraries and technologies were more accessible to developers. In particular, he suggests "work[ing] closely to make sure those pieces are there, and present in a distro. " Another possibility that was discussed at length is the potential for events that bring together contributors from different parts of the stack so that they can find solutions collaboratively. Such events would include developers involved with Xorg, GTK, Compiz, OpenGL, and other relevant projects. This suggestion was enthusiastically supported by Compiz contributor Robert Carr, who commented that people know what they need to do to improve their own parts of the stack, but don't know what they need to do to improve integration of those parts.
