One reader took me to task for not mentioning the KDE-based Ubuntu derivative,. (I’ve since given Kubuntu a spin; if you like the KDE desktop and its strong similarity to Windows, Kubuntu is definitely worth a look. ) I also received a negative report from one reader who couldn’t get Ubuntu to work properly on his laptop, and another from the founder and president of a company that sells a commercial Linux that I’ve found to be.

What exactly is meant by this term, which has become an indispensable part of the African renaissance?
An understanding of it is essential for meaningful political discourse. Some elementary research on this concept indicates, according to Noel Mostert in his monumental book, Frontiers: The Epic of South Africa’s Creation and the Tragedy of the Xhosa People, that before the advent of European colonisation the manner in which the Xhosa people operated as a community was founded on ubuntu. What applied to the Xhosa people also applied to a greater or lesser extent to the other indigenous groups. Ubuntu means “humanness” and it was acutely reflected in the preservation and stability of the Xhosa community.
