0 feed for this author. In part, this is to save space on my iBook, and in part, it’s just because I can. I started by googling for a precise howto for my system. While this didn’t turn up anything for.

On a slightly more serious note, going with the browns was both bold on Ubuntu’s part and probably also a reflection of genuine input from the non-Western components of their team. AFAICT, non-Westerners in Microsoft are largely sepoys, mindlessly echoing the policies and tastes of Redmond. Shuttleworth says that he is making a R10 million (US$1. 5 million) investment in the new company. ‘The focus of my global work is on Ubuntu, and the large uptake and interest in Ubuntu worldwide has shown that it is successful. I am very impressed by what the Impi team is doing, and it felt that it was now time to work with a global player, so as to advance. What will happen now is that we will take Ubuntu and conceptualize it for the SA and African markets,’ Shuttleworth says… ‘The focus of my global work is on Ubuntu, and the large uptake and interest in Ubuntu worldwide has shown that it is successful. Smack-Fu Master, in training

My current NAS runs Server 2003, but I really want to setup the new one using Ubuntu Server. I would really like to set it up to boot off a USB thumbdrive that way all the hard drives are storage drives. So, with that said, any type of gotcha’s with installing Ubuntu Server 7. 10 to a USB stick and what size of drive do I need? I was thinking a 1 gig should have enough space. Perhaps a 2 gig would be a better choice? My intended usage for this machine: File server and UPnP media server for my PS3 (probably running something like Media Tomb or uShare)… They’re like $50-$60 bucks now. You might also consider doing something with the system logs (send them to an external syslogd?), for the same reason.
